New online course for clergy

A new online course for clergy, “Preventing Alcohol and Drug Problems,” is being offered by the National Association of Children of Alcoholics (NACoA).

The course offers three (3) contact hours of education and provides information on practical steps that can be taken to help the children and youth in the congregation and community. The intent of this course is to help clergy attain knowledge and skills about prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.

The course can be accessed at http://nacoa.macrovolt.com. To enroll in the course go to Register Now to complete the registration process. The registration fee for the three contact hour course is $35. A document of completion can be printed out at the end of the course.

The course is based on the handbook "Preventing and Addressing Alcohol and Drug Problems: A Handbook for Clergy," published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. This online course fulfills half of the training/education requirements for the Certificate in Spiritual Caregiving to Help Addicted Persons and Families, a joint project of NACoA and NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals. NACoA is an Approved Education Provider through NAADAC.
