President Obama's FY 2010 budget plan
The President has released his budget plan for FY 2010, calling for an overall increase in funding for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The proposed budget calls for $5.236 million in funding for the Recovery Community Services Program, which would provide funding for a new round of grants. Learn more…

“HOW-TO” RECOVERY RESOURCE MAPPING: What resources are there in your community to support long-term recovery? What resources are needed? A new article by by Rhonda Johnson, Nelson Martin, Timothy Sheahan, Fred Way, and William White, Recovery Resource Mapping: Results of a Philadelphia Recovery Home Survey, is a great resource for mapping, understanding and planning recovery-friendly communities.

The American Association for the Treatment of Opiod Dependence (AATOD)’s April 2009 conference’s focus on recovery using medications included plenary remarks from Bill White, “The Recovery Paradigm and the Future of Medication-assisted Treatment,” many individuals using medication in their recovery; and well-attended workshops by medication-assisted recovery advocates. Faces & Voices board member Walter Ginter received the Richard Lane Advocacy Award.

Recovery stories on TheSecond Road: During April, Alcohol Awareness Month, the Second Road featured daily recovery stories from people in recovery. A wide variety of voices were represented in this month long salon: women, men, teenagers, spouses, professional clinicians, and the newly detoxed. The month-long showcase offers hope and inspiration to those seeking or newly in recovery.
