FY 2010 Federal Funding Update

Some highlights of the FY 2010 omnibus spending bill are:

  • The Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Block Grant would receive $1.7986 billion , a $20 million increase over FY 2009. 
  • The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) would receive $454.63 million , a $40.2 million increase over FY 2009.  Some specific programs are:
    • The Access to Recovery Program would receive $99 million, representing an increase of nearly $30 million over FY 2009
    • Recovery Community Services Program would receive $5,236,000 representing level funding compared to FY 2009
  • The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) would receive $1.0598 billion , an increase of $27 million over FY 2009.
  • The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) would receive $462.35 million , an increase of $12 million over FY 2009 funding levels. 
  • Second Chance Act programs would receive $100 million, an increase of $75 million over FY 2009.
