More than 1,000 celebrate their recovery from addiction at Healing Place event

More than 1,000 people gathered Saturday to celebrate their recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

The Healing Place said the event celebrates not only those who have recovered, but also every member of that person’s family.

The entire campus of the Healing Place on Market Street was blocked off for the celebration this Saturday afternoon.

Officials for the Healing Place said they have a 65 percent success rate; that’s five times the national average.

“I feel like I could never repay what the healing place has done for me.  I mean, it gave me my life back. I regained my confidence in my life and myself.  I became a better mother, a better sister,” said Jackie Livers, who is now sober.

The Healing Place has been serving Metro Louisville and the surrounding areas for the past 21 years.
